AGEWin Workbook Generator
What are the items for...

  1   Enter your name
This is for the author's name to be keyed in.  The name would appear in the modules created.

2   Save to file name :
This tells AGE to which file are the answers to be saved to. This however is now named by the user using the module. This item can now be omitted.  Recommended extentions used are '.htm' or '.ANS'  e.g  yourname.htm, Alan.ans, Peterlim1.htm or even joanne.joa (to group tests given by, teacher joa is giving the test)
Long extension names are accepted e.g. yourname.teacherAlan , Petertan.teacherB etc

3   Set the ready module to folder\directory:
When the module is completed, this is the folder all the contents/graphics for the module would be saved into. The folder name's length for each subfolder is set to maximum 8 because IE cannot take too long folder addresses when there are many subfolders (for different subjects). When combined with long module names may create a situation when the modules cannot be accessed anymore.  Try to keep all names short to provide more room for future additions.

4   Name of file storing the answers
This is the name of the file that contains all the answers and marks for each question. It is normally created and stored in c:\visless\score\answer folder.
In order to mark the questions for a particular module with no answers given, this file must be present in the
c:\visless\score\answer folder.

5    Main body text Copy and paste your contents to text area  below.
Files can be directly attached to contents below through items 9 or 10 below.

See help on how to set questions   HTML entitiesLines above <PRE> would not have linefeed and those below it would have.

 Place Questions lines (e.g. ^(QUESTION\OPTION\-1\in\1\for\in\under\for\DISPLAYANS ) ) above <PRE> and
Question numbers .e.g.  "He must have travelled everywhere, at least __1__ the spirit"  below <PRE> line.

This is one of the places where the author can type, copy & paste the contents for the module to be created. It supports UTF8 characters.  For a sample of how the questions are set and pasted here, see explanations here (or see below).  The <PRE> at the top should be left alone. This ensures that the html codes would not be filled by fillers to interfere with questions and answers creation by AGE.

A short description about the module
This box provides a description about the module to be created. The information would be displayed when users run the general menu listing of the contents.
Note: It is recommended to leave the top line blank (to start display from a fresh line).

  7     Template choice
A  number of templates with different colors are provided in this drop down menu.
If you wish to introduce a new template, you can choose one of the templates you seldom use and over write it. New templates are supplied regularly through our
website.

  8
Name of module
This is the name of the module to be given. e.g. English for all.eng or Mathematics for beginners.txt etc

9   Name of file to attach to item 5 or 10
Key in the full name of the file, with the folder address, which the user wishes to add to the module to be created. The file must be readable in text mode or html mode.  This means that instead of typing the contents in the box at item 5 above, user can just name that file to be processed directly.  AGE would add whatever contained in that file to the item 5 (which may be filled or empty).

An instance of use would be, after creating the contents using an HTML editor like MS Frontpage or Kompozer, user can save that file directly into the computer .e.g into c:\1\new.htm  . To add as part of the contents, just key into the box 9, "c:\\1\new.htm" (without the quotes).  Then the user can proceed to click the  To compile and create module at the bottom of the screen to start creating the module.

  10
On the left side, the button with the caption 'Copy files to attach.txt.', when clicked would allow the user to choose a file to be attached to the file named as c:\visless\code\attach.txt  . This file can then be used to be attached to item 5 to be processed as part of the contents for the module. To choose this 'attach.txt' file to be processed, user would need to click the drop down menu to the right and choose 'c:\visless\code\attach.txt' as shown below.

When the create button is clicked, the contents of this file would be added to item 5 to be processed. Meanwhile, however, user can use this drop down menu to choose other files listed there. e.g
c:\visless\multipg.txt    - generated when using AGE DOS under the action of saving the page.
c:\visless\multipg.htm    - generated by this AGEWin generator.
c:\visless\genpage.wor  - generated by AGE when user pressed F1 or F2 when using AGE DOS.

Note: AGEDOS can be used to easily place sound/graphic files at appropriate locations. Thus sometimes users may like to use AGE DOS to do certain functions and directly use these pages.

  11

Details on how to prepare Questions and answers for AGEWin modules

Copy and paste your contents. the main  body of the the questions and answers. into the box  5  ( shown above or you may use item 9 or item 10 to include/attach directly to contents of this box by name the file.).  That means contents inserted into textbox 5 will be added with contents of files named in item 5.

There are three methods of inputs here - 1. Fill in the Blanks, Text Areas  or Options

      1.   Filling in the blanks ,
Users fill in the answers in the blanks spaces provided.   e.g.

          ^ (QUESTION/FILLBLANK/
Question number*/answer/marks/length of box/name of question/display*/AnswerMode)
e.g. ^(QUESTION/FILLBLANK/-1/in/marks/8/Question1/1/AnswerMode)   Note: Setting Question number to -1 on first Question will automate the numbering

2.   Options
For Drop Down Menu Options use
       ^ (QUESTION/OPTION/
Question number*/answer/marks/option1/options2/options3/and so on/Answermode)***
  .g. ^(QUESTION/OPTION/1/was/2/was/were/under/for/AnswerMode)***

Users click the right answers from a drop down box

^(QUESTION\OPTION\-1\in\1\for\in\under\for\DISPLAYANS)    Note: Setting Question number to -1 on first Question will automate the numbering

      3.  Text area
Where users key in multi-lines subjective answers.

^(QUESTION\TEXTAREA\-1\ Answer  \marks\width\height\ANSWERONLY)    Note: Setting Question number to -1 on first Question will automate the numbering
Textarea options are most suited for subjective questions and answers. This would require human interventions to mark the answers.
This option is usually set with Question option of  ANSWERONLY which means the question is not corrected on the spot by the program.

        Automatic question numbers numbering...

*Setting the top/first Question number, display and the __1__  to -1, -1 and __-1__   respectively would automatically set numbers in increasing order - top  to bottom.
e.g. ^(QUESTION\FILLBLANK\
-1\in\1\8\Question1\-1\DISPLAYANS) or ^(QUESTION\OPTION\-1\in\1\for\in\under\for\DISPLAYANS)
He lived alone __
-1__his house George Avenue.
These must be the topmost values. The rest would be numbered automatically irrespective of their original values.
Below are
sample sets of  questions ( 2 Fill in blanks and 1 drop down menu option
Copy and paste to item 5 and click
Create module) . Note where to place your contents above and below the <PRE>. Line above this linefeed would be set. Lines below '<PRE>' would have linefeed. This would avoid excessive line spaces for items above the <PRE>.

Try below. Copy and paste to the item 5's textbox. Click Create module
Fill in the Blanks (Cloze)       Drop down Menu

^(QUESTION\FILLBLANK\-1\in\1\8\Question1\-1\DISPLAYANS)
^(QUESTION\FILLBLANK\\to\1\8\Question2\ \DISPLAYANS)
^(QUESTION\FILLBLANK\\was\2\8\Question3\ \DISPLAYANS)
<PRE>

He lived alone __-1__his house George Avenue [ under, in,over]
He likes __0__ make cake [to, too, for]
The man __0__ hurt yesterday in an accident [were, is, are, was]

^(QUESTION\OPTION\-1\in\1\for\in\under\for\DISPLAYANS)
^(QUESTION\OPTION\ \into\1\under\into\over\for\DISPLAYANS)
^(QUESTION\OPTION\ \was\1\was\were\under\for\DISPLAYANS)
<PRE>
He must have travelled everywhere, at least __1__ the spirit.
He bowed to his friends, and entered __2__ the conversation.
The man __3__ hurt yesterday in an accident

       TEXTAREA     UTF8 Sample ...

^(QUESTION\OPTION\-1\in\1 \in\on\into\-1\DISPLAYANS)
^(QUESTION\FILLBLANK\\to\1\8\Question2\ \DISPLAYANS)
^(QUESTION\TEXTAREA\ \was\2\5\60\ \ANSWERONLY)
<PRE>
He lived alone __-1__his house George Avenue [ under, in,over]
He likes __0__ make cake [to, too, for]
The man __0__ hurt yesterday in an accident [were, is, are, was]

(This example sets first question to Option (drop down menu); second sets to Fill-in-the-Blanks and third sets to a text area to allow users to key in multiple lines answers.

^(QUESTION\OPTION\-1\房子\1\房子\移动电话\铅笔\DISPLAYANS)
^(QUESTION\OPTION\ \टेलीफोन \1\टेलीफोन\चढ़ाई\काम\DISPLAYANS)
^(QUESTION\OPTION\ \Sími \1\Sími\hús\blýantur\DISPLAYANS)
<PRE>
a. 他停留在一所__-1__       -     房子  移动电话     铅笔      Chinese
b. वह एक __0__ के   -   साथ मकान टेलीफोन पेंसिल      Hindi
c. Hann kallar međ __0__  -   hús Sími blýantur      Icelandic

To enable automatic numbering, please remember to set the first line number to '-1'.
This would number the subsequent questions to ascending numbers.

It is not recommended that you mix the options in one set of questions.
You can try to copy and paste the samples here to item 5  in the AGEWin Workbook Generator.

UTF8 unicode is supported for foreign languages like Chinese , Hindi etc.

If you wish to number the questions,  the numbers
must be increasing from top to down. You cannot say use question 3 above question 2 or 1. Setting the first number as -1 would automatically set the numbers in increasing order.

A folder containing the questions modules plus all the components would be created. Copy and paste this folder to any pen drive for distribution. To run, click the icon with names beginning with "
RunWin_"
