Please note that there are a number of ways to load the text to create homework.
For our purpose here, we shall proceed with loading the page through
import DOS/Win button
Note: We are importing the contents we prepared earlier in step 2.

AGE Homework Generator Functions page

Step 4.

Click load Import Dos/Win

AGE will prompt

Here you can use DOS editor or Windows' Notepad  to create your homework sheet
Click "Notepad"

In the notepad, type or copy & paste from another source the following contents.
or you may have already prepared and saved this page previously.

  Note:
The above can be typed manually or copied and pasted from another source.

For each question, we have the answers to the left to enable the users to choose the answer.
The right answer in the sentence will be clicked to generate the question and the answer.
It is important to ensure that you save it as import.txt under the default folder c:\visless.

 T
his is the file which will be read and loaded to the Workbook Generator automatically when you exit this window.

Click File, Save and Exit

Step 5.

                                                     Prepare to set questions
We have successfully imported the text from Notepad to AGE Homework generator (see background).

If we wish to create a new electronic worksheet, the first thing we should remember is to
initialize the settings for a fresh worksheet. This is done by clicking Set New module.
(at the bottom left screen)

AGE will prompt as follows after confirming "yes".

Key in the title as Grammar test questions. or any name to suit your worksheet.

 Press "Enter"

Key in the maximum number of questions to set.

 Note
that the maximum is 100.  Press "Enter" without keying any number will set it to 100.
Setting higher limit is recommended as it would not affect the system if ultimately less questions are
generated. So in most cases just press "Enter" without keying in any number will do.

Next key in name of the file to save the answers to. Maximum extension is 3.
 e.g .ans. for  question.ans

We are now ready to start creating questions.

Click "Functions" to select the functions we
wish to perform. In this case, we click set ques Question:0.

At The bottom screen AGE will prompt the following

Click Set Ques Question:0  This will set the mode to "Question" meaning the function is
  set for creating questions.

Note the word "Questions" under "Functions". This means the function is now setting  questions.

To set the first question, bring the mouse to sentence 1 "We saw an elephant dead by the roadside."
and click on the word "an".   AGE will pick up the word "an"  as the answer.

User may at this point either accept  or  change the answer "an" to another answer if so desired.
If answer is to be changed, user just need to key in the new answer.

From the magenta box above, user can set

  1. The number of attempts for the user to answer.
  2. The marks allocated for this question.
  3. The question number (which normally is sequentially raised automatically and untouched)
  4. Choice whether answer will be shown or not after each question has been answered.
  5. Choice whether the question will correct the given answer instantly.

In this case, we use the defaulted values i.e. 1 mark , 2 attempts , provide answers, question
number is 1, and the answer given set to "an".

Just press "Enter" key to accept the values.

  Above screen appears.
Type in the sentence "Click the answer to the right of each question or type the answer below".

or any narration you deem fit.

This instruction will be displayed at the bottom of the page whenever the question is selected.
This helps the students with individualized directions or sets of possible answers.
Different narrations may be keyed in for different questions. Note, this narration can also be  used for providing
options to the right answers. If user clicks on the word, it  can be picked  up by AGE as the answer for the question.

Notice above that "__1__" has replaced the answer clicked "an".
   This question is complete.

We can now proceed as before to the other questions. This time click on the word  "his."

   Notice
the "." very carefully in the word "him.".
The computer picks up the answer as "him."and not "him" without the "."

When the student answers, the computer will take the answer as "him." and not "him".

In this case, the user has two choices.
Choice 1.  key in the answer as "him" to override the answer "him." picked up by the computer.
Choice 2.  Key in both "him." and "him" as answers as shown above with a hyphen  " - " separating
the answers. So in the event more answers are needed to be given as answers users may
use the hyphen "-" to separate the answers i.e.  him.-him.  Either answer will be correct.

Press "Enter" to accept the above and continue to create more questions as shown by the page below
Proceed until we have set all the questions.

Step 6

  Save all questions.

Save this page we have prepared.

If we need to have more pages, then we can still go to import Dos/Win
again and retype a new page and bring into AGE Homework tools again and so on.

Click Save all with paging to save the entire page.
If you wish to only save selected lines then use Save Line no page . This option allows you to select which line
or which part of the code on the screen to be saved and which to be rejected by using Reject line.
"Save all with paging" is for placing next page button to the page when users run the module.

Step 7

Set the final module and compile the worksheet.

Assuming we accept this one page as our test paper and do not wish to prepare any more page,
   then
we select Save final.

After selecting the option Create module No Password, user will next be prompted below.

Step 8

Name final homework module and save to a folder in c:\visless\work.

Please note. If you click this box, AGE will load a DOS editor for you to enter the folder names.
The names are retained for future access to this same folder until changed by the user.

C Key in the name of the module just created. Long names are accepted here. Make sure you
provide an extension to each name .e.g. test.chi or test.foo to identify the type of modules.

Please note. If you click this box, AGE will load a DOS editor for you to enter the name of the file.
Important: The name must not contain "," ,"-" or other punctuation marks.

D Locations to save the finished module to.

  1. C:\visless\work option will save the module to C:\VISLESS\WORK\ENGLISH\GRAMMAR\TEST  folder.

  2. To Drive A option will save the module to A:\VISLESS\WORK\ENGLISH\GRAMMAR\TEST  folder
Note: the letter A drive can be changed by clicking "Select"

Saving to this drive A or other drives enables easy distribution of the ready modules to students.

Key in as shown in the example above and click C:\VISLESS\WORK at D

The module is now saved to the folder C:\VISLESS\WORK\ENGLISH\GRAMMAR\TEST

To run the module see

Step 8

Look at the module and distribute.

User can click C:\visless\work at indicator A and then English folder followed by
 Grammar folder.

          You will arrive at

To distribute the "TEST" module you have prepared, just copy and paste
this entire folder to a diskette or a pen drive.

Insert to ANY computer and open the test drive folder and click the file starting
with "Run_". Here the file is  Run_TEST_QUESTION_PRIM icon,  it will automatically
transfer all the contents to the new computer and run automatically.

Here you see the TEST FOLDER.  Click this folder you see.

These are the files saved in the folder.

If you want to transfer to A using the transfer2A file you find here, just click the

    file with the name TEST_Que_transfer2A.
To transfer to C:\visless\work click TEST_Que_transfer2C.

You can click the file with the beginning letters "RUN_" to run the module.
This is just ONE of the many ways to run a module.

Another easier way Click here. which essentially is to go to the Windows Desktop,
find the AGE Homework folder and click the AGE Homework in Html icon.
